Scanography (Scanner Photography) Fine Art by Dale Hoopingarner

Photography can preserve the ephemeral nature of flowers...but a computer scanner?  Today's digital scanners can do a lot more than just digitize checks or old photographs -- they can be used to capture the vibrant color and depth of fresh flowers. The images below offer just a taste of scanography (also known as scannography) art -- check out the Photo Gallery for more!  Like what you see? See how to order, such as a set of greeting cards - simple, elegant.  Feedback is most welcome, and be sure to to come back later to see what's new!

FREE TASTE!  I've made available a high-resolution image free for you to download and print to see for yourself the quality of the source images found on this site.  It is Three Amigos, a trio of tulips for you to enjoy.  Feel free to download and print to enjoy.  The price?  Just tell any admirers where it came from!

Yearnings

These tulips are one of the first denizens of spring in our garden, getting a jump on the other early-bird tulips by at least a week.  But because their strategy is to beat the others to the punch they pay a price: a short life span with the vagaries of spring weather.  This piece was just recently accepted into the Post Road Art Center's juried "Flower Show 2010" exhibit.

Spring Collection

Daffodils are a delight, increasing each year from the few bulbs sown to eventually large masses of blooms.  They dance nicely with those hairy fiddlehead fern sprouts, but those same delicate hairs makes for some long times at the computer to edit the background 100% black!
