There are no art galleries in my town, or even in the immediately abutting ones. I’ve visited Cape Cod and checked out it’s plentiful galleries, especially in Provincetown, but they’re geared towards the tourist trade that wants memories of their Cape vacation and thus mostly seascapes and other paintings, not photography and certainly nothing in the genre of my art that I was able to find. So gallery representation doesn’t appear to be much of an option for me.
So I’m trying something a little different: exhibiting in an office. In particular, a dentist office, Mint Dental in Franklin, Massachusetts. Dr. K’s practice is in a new office space that desperately needed some color to spice up the walls, yet at the same time the art needed to be something that would help welcome patients and set them at ease. So I selected several works (Shibumi, Emergence, At Last and Spring Collection II) as pieces that would complement the “Mint” name to a degree and provide the color and calming effect desired. Printed up in large size metal prints (smallest is 19×24, largest 32×40) they make a pretty dramatic statement on the bright white walls of the office.
Hopefully they will achieve the desired welcoming effect and patients will like them enough to inquire about what it would take to bring one home with them!
